Mother and child, Imja Khola Valley

Thursday, March 19th

By now we have pretty much settled into a routine, as if hiking in the Himalayas could ever be routine! We gain another 500 meters elevation on a pleasant walk to Dingboche (14,469’ and 57% s.l. O2). Along the way we cross the Loboche Khola, a river created by runoff from the Khumbu Glacier, on which sits Everest Base Camp. We are getting closer.

Pangboche to Dingboche: We paralleled the Imja Khola on the way up, while our return route brought us through Pheriche.
Looking back down the Imja Khola Valley: Prayer flags and mani walls mark the trail.
