2012 Thru-hike

Adventures of a fun-loving couple before, during, and after the Appalachian Trail

It has been said if you spend over 35 years preparing to hike the Appalachian Trail, there’s a good chance your training will peak too soon.

Fortunately, our stars aligned in 2012, and we were able to begin our epic trek before the window of opportunity closed on us for good.

This site began as a location for us to permanently archive the amazing 168 day, 2,184.2-mile journey that followed.

Realizing, however, 1) we’ve had some memorable times along the way since beginning our partnership back in 1975, and 2) in the wake of completing the AT, nothing seems impossible, we’ve decided this might be the spot to record some other adventures as well.

Feel free to have a look!
